Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Hello and welcome to fourth grade at Ambrit! My name is Maria Casson and I have the pleasure of teaching your child this year. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year. Below I have outlined some important information and details regarding some fourth grade routines.

(It is advisable to mark all of your child's belongings)

1. A backpack (without wheels)

2. An old, large t-shirt/smock (to cover clothing for art)

3. A lunch box (to contain snack or lunch if not in lunch program.)

4. A box of tissues

For schoolwork your child will need:

1. A pencil case containing regular and coloured pencils, erasers, a sharpener and some markers.

2. 2 A4 size binders, (they should be made of durable material and secured with an elastic or similar).

One will remain in your child's backpack to contain school notices, homework and reading book and the other will remain in the classroom and store your child's work.

3. A diary (in which your child will write their homework.) A small, light one is advisable.

4. 10 plastic page protectors.

5. An A4 size clip board.

6. A 30cm ruler

* Please ensure that your child's pencil case is always in order and equipped at all times.

Food:

1. Children should bring in a healthy snack for mid-morning. Fruit, yogurt, juice, etc. No candy or sweets please.

2. If your child brings their own lunch, please make sure that they have all the necessary cutlery. Please do not give your child soda to drink at school.

Sickness:

Please do not send medicines of any kind to school with your child. If your child is not fit enough to play outside, please keep him/her at home, as he/she cannot be supervised in the classroom during playtime. If your child has any specific medical conditions and needs regular medication, please advise myself and the school nurse.

Contact:

The easiest way to contact me is by sending a note with your child or by e-mailing me at maria.casson@ambrit-rome.com. You may also leave a message with the secretary at: 06/55 95 305 or 06/55 95 301.

Homework:

Please check your child's binder DAILY for school notices and homework. We ask that you provide a quiet, comfortable place for your child to study and assist them in establishing a regular homework routine. I will give you more detailed information about your child's homework routines during the upcoming class meeting. Homework is not given on Thursdays.

Bus:
If you have planned a change in your child's bus schedule, please send in a note or contact our bus coordinator directly. All changes need to be made by 12:00.

Birthdays:
If your child would like to celebrate his/her birthday with a special treat in class, please schedule the day with me. It is best to send individual pre-cut treats. Please also send the appropriate supplies.

Attire:
Your child should wear comfortable clothing to school. The PE department has requested that students wear appropriate clothing for gym (e.g. shorts and t-shirt or track suit) and tennis or gym shoes. (PE is on Tuesday and Friday)

I am very excited about the upcoming year and look forward to seeing you soon. There will be a class meeting on Monday, 24th September at 4:00 pm. In this meeting I will be giving you more specific information regarding 4th grade.

Kind regards,

Ms. Maria Casson
