Bridge

Standing on a bridge

A bearded captain
Yelling out his power

The sea’s salty water
splashing every hour

The sails crackling in the wind
the rain poured

While the sun dimmed
arriving at the river

Down the crew’s back
a cold shiver

Something in view
a grey dark shape

Hard, still and heavy
the boat scrapes

Water pouring in
a low crash

The faded shape

dirtied in ash

A giant structure
takes over the scene

The boat approaches
a bridge is seen

The captain hits the bridge of his nose
stinging  pain

On the bridge
he screams in vain

His dark crew
playing bridge,
the game.
