- Welcome back,
we hope that you all had a lovely, restful break. We are
already back in the swing of things and onto our next
theme. The children have all settled back into their
routine and are enjoying all of the new activities in
class.
- Just to keep
you up to date with the fun things we are looking at this
month.
- Our project of
the moment is winter and as our actual climate does not
inspire us to 'study' ice and cold so we are looking
further afield to artic conditions.
-
- In our water
tray we made 'icebergs'. The children were able to touch
them and feel how cold they were. Watch them melt; and
re-enact the artic environment with toy polar
bears.
-
-
- We have an
igloo in the class so that the children can sit quietly
in the company of the polar bears for a quiet reading
corner.
-
-
-
- The children
watched in awe as our science experiment developed over
night. The simple pipe cleaners that we had made into a
six-pointed shape changed into a beautiful crystal
snowflake, with the help of borax.
-
-
- We have new
matching and sorting games to help us with our number and
colours.
-
- In circle we
are learning lots of stimulating and inspiring songs and
finger plays such as The Snowman Song and The Winter Time
Poem.
-
- The Snowmen
Song
- Five little
snowmen fat,
- Each with a
funny hat,
- Out came the
sun and melted one.
- What a sad
thing was that!
- Down, Down,
Down.
-
-
- Winter Time
Poem
- Icy fingers,
icy toes,
- Bright red
cheeks and bright red nose.
- Watch the
snowflakes as they fall,
- Try so hard to
count them all.
-
-
- So as you can
see we are keeping busy.
-
- Things to
remember:
- Please, as it
is that time of year, could you donate a box of tissues
for the class?
- Parent
conference day is on February 9th. This day school is
closed to students and you are invited in for a 15 minute
- meeting to talk
about your child's' progress.
