Previous Newsletter:

Welcome to Nursery. We are really looking forward to meeting you all in September. Here are some notes to help you organize the start of the school year. The school day starts at 8.45 and children should be accompanied downstairs to their classrooms or the E.C. garden. There is a different teacher on duty every morning; the list will be posted on the door at the start of the corridor.
The children can be picked up at the end of the day from 15.30 from their classroom. Please be punctual!

For the start of the school year the children will need:
1) An art smock or big old shirt/t-shirt for art lessons and messy activities.
2) A bag with a complete change of clothes. Please make sure that each item is clearly labeled. You can find good, easy to apply labels at www.easy2name.com
3) A lunch box or small rucksack with your child’s name written clearly on it.

It is school policy for the Nursery children to sleep in the afternoon. As most children really benefit from this restful moment we ask that you do not let your child get o out of the habit of a quiet nap over the summer. Children will require sheets and a large pillowcase to store the sheets in. As the weather gets cooler they may need a blanket. We will send the sheets sent home every Friday to be washed. If your child is in the habit of sleeping with a small soft toy or a dummy he/she may bring it to school for naptime, however we do not allow any other toys in school as things do get lost and this can cause tears and upset.

These are just a few general notes; we will be holding a brief meeting for parents on Wednesday, Sept. 7th to talk about your child’s transition into Nursery. This is an informal meeting with your child’s teacher, a time to express your concerns and ask questions before your child starts school on Monday, Sept. 12th. Please feel welcome to visit the class with your child on Friday, Sept. 9th between 10.00-11.30. This is purely to enable your child to become acquainted with their new environment.

If you haven’t yet returned the Nursery survey (questionnaire: (
MicrosoftWord version - PDF version) ), you will have an opportunity to complete this during the orientation meeting or nursery visit. Please do take the time to complete this form as it helps us to understand your child, their needs and habits.

Have a lovely summer and see you soon in September!
