The Right to Food

by Emily

When I hear the right to food, it gives me different thoughts.  For example the thought the 34,000 people die everyday, just from hunger.  At lease 30,000 of them are children.  I just could not imagine dieing as a child from hunger; it’s a really upsetting thought.  The fact that really stands out to me is that there is plenty of food on the planet, just not enough people can afford it.  So really “The right to food” means to me that there should be a right to being able to eat.  The “right” is being able to do it.

One hunger problem is that, we are living in an overpopulated world.  There are very many consequences leading to the future.  The amount of people dying everyday can and probably rise.  That is a very unfortunate thing, to have a newborn babies die of hunger nor-less anybody in that matter.  If you think about it a lot of people direct starvation at a lot of countries.  This is directed at many rich countries.  For instance a lot of people blame America for not sharing enough money with the rest of the world.  People only say that because America has a pretty small amount of hunger.  A lot of people wish the U.S. gave more money to their county.  In the month of October of 2004 when the tsunami hit Thailand, schools all over the America gave thousands of dollars to the people that lived through the tsunami.

Would it be possible to free hunger?  Yes it is probably possible to free it.  More logic needs to be added to the problem.  One solution would be less food wastage.  There are landfills being dug for waste everyday.  People should also recycle much more because that however would be a massive solution.  Africa has a lot of hunger and its just not that the people were not educated properly; the land is either dried out or flooded.  Africa is also not the richest country either.  Many countries are resolving part of the hunger issue.  So yes, we should be able to stop hunger.
