The Right to Food

by Francesca

What does the phrase “The Right to Food” mean? What is it trying to tell the world? To me the phrase “the Right to Food” means that everyone in the world should have enough feed to live a long healthy life; it is trying to say to the world that no one should suffer because of hunger, no one has the right to be going everyday to bed hungry while there are millions of people around the world not even noticing how much of that give a person the opportunity to live happily and with a full belly.

The right to food means that everyone has the right to have enough food all through our their lives to feed themselves and not have a person die every3.2 seconds. What would you feel if you were one of those people that died of hunger every 3.2 seconds? All I know is that I’d be scared, but not in a bad way, because being scared would make me want to learn about the causes of not having any food and try to resolve them.

Why do people die of hunger? Everyone says that there is enough food in our world to feed everyone. So why id there this problem of people dieing because of not having food? My opinion is that the people that do have enough food are not aware of all the feed that they a wasting, and all of that feed that goes down the drain could save a person’s life. I would like to say to all those who are reading this, try, for a week, to have only one meal a day and one cup of water. But not a big meal; one small meal, and one small cup of water. After a week of that you will feel tired and hungry. It hurts, but think of all those who have that feeling every single day of their life. Just think: then act.
