The Right to Food

By Matteo 7G

I will tell you what I think “The Right to Food” means. I think it means everyone has the right to eat wherever you are in the world. Is it right, hungry people go to bed with empty stomachs and we go to bed with full ones?
The hungry people of this world have this feeling as the great poet Pablo Neruda says, “they have this feeling of crabs pinching from the inside, like a cold fire that burns”. They deserve a wonderful meal after all they go through, to eat food, all of the hungry people do.
I was watching a tape that my mom’s friend filmed, and it was really sad. It was about this group of kids that were trying to help this one kid that was screaming with pain because he was so hungry. The emotion on his face stuck in my head and it makes me think about wanting to help. The kids were from Africa.
Every two months I and my brother make donations to a family - my baby sitter’s family - and I feel so happy when I do this. In return I get happiness, which is what anyone could ask for.
There are many reasons why some people are not able to eat : In some areas there is not the proper land/ environment and climate. It is not that they cannot grow food, it is that they don’t have the right environment.
