WRITING:
Journals, personal narratives, persuasive, expository and analytical essays, script-writing, poems, grammar and vocabulary enrichment.
 
SPEAKING AND LISTENING:
Literature Circles, Class Discussions, Oral Presentations and drama.
 
LIBRARY:
Students are expected to select library books for independent reading throughout the year. Library reading is monitored and encouraged through individual conferences and literature circles.
 
HOMEWORK:
30 minutes reading and writing every evening
 
ASSESSMENT:
Progress Reports, Mid Term Report cards Rubrics, self-evaluation, peer evaluation, teacher/student generated comprehension grammar and vocabulary tests, portfolio, showcase portfolio and student-led conferences.   
                                                                                      
TEACHING AIMS:
- develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills
- develop a critical understanding and appreciation of literature
- encourage a creative and original response to literature
- develop personal reading and writing goals
