Music
Music
is a universal language and an essential part of our society.
The Ambrit music program gives students a working knowledge of
music theory and Western musical heritage, and with these tools
they are encouraged to develop self expression in composition,
creative movement and performance. Active listening and participation
foster expressive communication in music, and develop an appreciation
for music of all cultures which lasts a lifetime.
It
cannot be emphasized enough that students gain musical knowledge,
understanding and skill by actively taking part in musical experiences.
Having learned in this way, the student is free to take control
as the performer, the composer, the listener, and is prepared
for a lifetime of musical experience and enjoyment.
Assessment
An end of year final examination will take place with an external
examiner at another school. This is scheduled for June. Furthermore,
students will be assessed on a continuous basis in order to give
feedback of current standard and set future targets.

Art
Art is a vital aspect of all learning, essential to growth, and a valuable means to an enriched awareness of the world and a greater ability to express one's individuality. The goal of art education is to bring out the creative, expressive and aesthetic potential of each child, and to promote the attitudes, thinking and discipline necessary for all types of learning. In the broadest sense, art education should serve as a catalyst for a lifetime of meaningful, fulfilling and creative experiences, and enhances the very quality of life; enabling our children to continue being throughout their life, creative learners learning to learn.
Middle School students complete a variety of open-ended projects using a selection of materials and media: drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture, thereby stimulating and encouraging individual approaches and experimentation, all fundamental aspects of the creative experience.
Grade 6 students concentrate on the study of two-dimensional design and they concentrate on the use of letters as form, discussing the development of letters/alphabets through the centuries arriving at their use in advertising.
Grade 7 students concentrate on “seeing” the world around them, the objective observation from life and they become more confident in producing representational artwork.
Grade 8 students concentrate on more sophisticated projects refining their abilities for creative exploration, observation and experimentation thereby refining their personal vision.
