Italian Program

The Full Italian
Program aims to enhance the four basic skills (speaking, listening,
reading and writing), develop individual expression and prepare
students for the ‘licenza media’ exam, which the students
sit at an Italian public school at the conclusion of the three
years of middle school.
The program
of studies follows the requirements of the Italian Education Ministry.
History and
geography are studied in English during the first and second year
of middle school and continued in Italian during the third year.
Science is
also studied in English. At the conclusion of each school year,
there will be internal written and oral exams (Maths and Italian).
During the
third year, beginning in February, additional lessons will be
added on Saturday mornings (9:30 – 12:45) according to a
pre-established calendar

During the third year the program will cover contemporary era
from the Congress of Vienna to the end of the Second World War
Technical
Education
Study of different forms of matter (wood, paper), of metal, of
energy (source and production), of nutrition, of electrical circuits
and technical drawing.
Mathematics
Arithmetic: the four basic operations, the powers, MCD and mcm,
statistics, real numbers
Geometry: study of polygons, calculation of perimeter, area, Pythagorean
theorem, solids
Algebra: relative numbers, Operations with monomial and polynomial
functions, Linear and nonlinear equations, Cartesian Plane

Italian
Il
Full Italian Program si propone l’obiettivo di potenziare
le quattro abilità di base (parlare, ascoltare, leggere
e scrivere), sviluppare le capacità espressive individuali
e preparare gli studenti all’esame di licenza media, esame
che verrà sostenuto presso una scuola pubblica italiana
alla fine del triennio.
I
programmi di studio seguono le indicazioni ministeriali.
Il
corso di storia e il corso di geografia verranno svolti in lingua
inglese durante i primi due anni e ripresi in lingua italiana
durante il terzo anno.
Anche
il corso di Scienze verrà svolto in inglese. Sono previsti
degli esami interni, alla fine di ogni anno scolastico, in cui
i ragazzi affronteranno delle prove scritte (Matematica, Italiano)
e una prova orale.
Durante
il terzo anno, inoltre, sono previste (a partire da febbraio)
alcune lezioni integrative che si svolgeranno il sabato mattina
(9.30 – 12.45), secondo un calendario che verrà comunicato
per tempo.

Antologia
Studio dei generi letterari e cenni sulla storia della letteratura
italiana.
Grammatica
L’analisi grammaticale, l’analisi logica e l’analisi
del periodo.
Narrativa
Lettura integrale, commento e analisi di alcune opere in lingua
italiana.
Storia
dell’arte e cenni di storia della musica
Le tappe più importanti, dalle origini dell’uomo
all’epoca contemporanea.
Geografia
Durante il terzo anno del corso verrà affrontato lo studio
dei continenti extra-europei.
Storia
Durante il terzo anno del corso verrà affrontato lo studio
dell’epoca compresa tra il Congresso di Vienna e la fine
della Seconda guerra mondiale.
Educazione
tecnica
Studio dei materiali (legno, carta…), dei metalli, dell’energia
(fonti e produzione), dei principi nutritivi e dei circuiti elettrici;
studio del disegno tecnico.
Matematica
Aritmetica: le quattro operazioni fondamentali, le potenze, MCD
e mcm, cenni di statistica, numeri reali.
Geometria: studio dei poligoni, calcolo del perimetro,delle aree.
Teorema di Pitagora, studio dei solidi.
Algebra: numeri relativi, calcolo letterale (monomi e polinomi),
equazioni di primo grado ad una incognita, il piano cartesiano.

style of students who already have a good grasp of the Italian
language. Although these students do not intend to sit the Italian
exam, they will explore Italian literature and study grammar and
syntax.

Il
“Fluent Italian Program” si propone l’obiettivo
di potenziare le quattro abilità di base (parlare, ascoltare,
leggere e scrivere) e sviluppare le capacità espressive
individuali degli studenti che già possiedono una buona
padronanza della lingua italiana e che, pur non intendendo sostenere
l’esame di licenza media, desiderano approfondire la conoscenza
della letteratura italiana perfezionando anche lo studio della
grammatica e della sintassi.
Programma
di studio:
Antologia
Studio dei generi letterari e cenni sulla storia della letteratura
italiana.
Grammatica
L’analisi grammaticale, l’analisi logica e cenni sull’analisi
del periodo.
Narrativa
Lettura, commento e analisi di brani tratti da opere in lingua
italiana.
Italian
as an Additional Language (IAL)
This
class is for total beginners and students who already speak some
Italian but need to reinforce their previous knowledge of the
language.
Students
will start using Italian to communicate with their peers and engage
in elementary conversation, expressing feelings and emotions and
exchanging opinions and information.
In
order to develop the four language skills students will be exposed
to a variety of authentic language, listening activities and written
language from different sources.
Through
guided activities they will gradually deepen their understanding
of oral and written messages and will be able to start expressing
themselves independently.
Although
the main focus of the class is on communication, grammar structures
will be presented and practiced to enhance accuracy.
Some
of the content of this class reflects the curriculum of the half
and full Italian courses in order to extend the knowledge and
understanding of Italian cultural aspects.
