The
Italian Program in Primary
In
English
The
central objective of the Italian Program is to enable students
to understand and express themselves in Italian, both in written
and oral form.
There
are three strands to choose from depending on the individual objectives
of each student:
Strand
1: Students who will eventually go to an Italian school follow
a program of studies that prepares them for the Quinta Elementare
Exam at a public school. The program is based on the requirements
of the Ministry of Education.
In Grades 4 and 5, students who choose this strand, have respectively
one or two additional lessons each week in Maths and Italian to
meet the required standards.
Strand 2: Students who speak Italian fluently but will
not continue their studies at an Italian school, follow the same
program as above but without the additional lessons.
Strand
3: Students with developing Italian follow a course of IAL
(Italian as an Additional Language) that provides them with basic
skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) as well as learning
about the culture of their host country.
The
Italian program is coordinated, where appropriate, with the English
program. Themes that are common to both programs are identified
and developed.

L’obiettivo
generale del Programma di Italiano è porre gli studenti
nella condizione di comprendere la lingua italiana e sapersi esprimere,
sia in forma orale che scritta.
Il
corso di studi prevede percorsi differenziati, a seconda degli
obiettivi specifici di ciascuno studente.
Strand
1: Coloro che intendono proseguire la propria carriera scolastica
nella scuola italiana, seguono un percorso che li porta a sostenere
l’esame di Quinta Elementare presso la scuola pubblica.
Il programma di studi si basa sulle indicazioni ministeriali.
Questi studenti, nelle classi Quarta e Quinta, svolgono rispettivamente
una e due lezioni integrative alla settimana, nelle quali viene
trattato il programma di matematica e potenziata la conoscenza
dell’italiano.
Strand 2: Coloro che, pur parlando un italiano fluente,
non hanno necessità di accedere alla scuola italiana, seguono
il medesimo programma, privo, però, delle lezioni integrative.
Strand 3: Coloro che, invece, non hanno l’obiettivo
di raggiungere un livello fluente nell’utilizzo della lingua
italiana, frequentano le lezioni del corso IAL (Italian Additional
Language) nel quale vengono acquisite le abilità di base
(parlare, ascoltare, leggere e scrivere).
Il programma italiano viene svolto in sinergia con quello inglese:
per alcuni argomenti presenti in entrambi i programmi si individuano
ed approfondiscono rispettivamente differenti aspetti specifici.
