Vicky Angel
by Jacqueline Wilson
This
book is about a girl named Jade and her
best friend Vicky. One day Vicky walks down the street and gets
hit by a car. She dies. Jade can still see her in the sky, but she
thinks that Vicky has changed since she became a ghost. In the end
Vicky gets what she wants, a pair of wings and she flies up into
the sky. I think that this book is extraordinary.
Hibo
Fairy
Treasure by Gwyneth
Rees
Connie
doesn't believe in fairies, but when
she see a little fairy she changes her mind. This story is
fantastic. When I was little, I thought that fairies existed.
Reading this book this fantasy returned to me. I don't think that
fairies exist anymore, but I like them very much.
Myrlande
A
Series of Unfortunate
Events by Lemony
Snicket
I
like these books very much because they are
very interesting. I want to read all of the series. The characters
are one little kid and his two brothers. There is a man, Olaf, who
wants to kidnap these kids, however, they are so intelligent that
he can never catch them.

Tales

Steve
Barlow and Steve
Skidmore
This
entertaining book talks about a 'pig boy'
- a boy who talks to pigs, named William. William is the also the
king's son's whipping boy (a boy who get whipped because of
someone else's crimes,). William lives in a small city surrounded
by a HUGE forest, which people believe takes up the whole world.
And that's not all! Terrifying, ugly monsters who can kill you
before you notice them live in the forest!

Three

a long hall. From it opens a huge dark room with a small section

Horrible
Histories: Cruel Kings and Mean
Queens by Terry
Deary
This
book is about kings and queens that did
cruel and mean things like chopping peoples' heads off, starving
them, and poisoning them. These stories are pretty cool, but
gruesome. Horrible history really is horrible!
Dax
The
Witches
by Roald Dahl
A
boy lives with his grandmother in London.
She tells him stories about witches. One day they go on vacation
near the sea and the boy gets caught in a large room with strange
women. Could they be witches? I liked this book so much because
there was a lot of suspense and horror.

Time
Rangers: A Shot in the
Dark by Rob Childs
The Time
Rangers is a series
about a soccer team
that in each book goes back into the past or forward into the
future. In this book, they are playing in an Easter soccer
tournament. In the middle of training, they go back to mediaeval
times where they play a match and free a kid. This book is very
mysterious and exciting. I recommend it 3rd to 5th graders. I hope

Edwin
Trixie
Tempest: ABC of

little out of it. She causes disasters and gets into trouble. This
book is great because Trixie writes about her life, family and

Giulia
Matilda
by
Roald Dahl
Matilda
is a brilliant girl with idiotic
parents. When she was 4-years-old she had read all of the books by
Rudyard Kipling and Charles Dickens. Her parents only wanted her
to watch TV. This book has a lot of adventure. Matilda does a lot
of magic in her school . The headmistress hates Matilda, but Miss
Honey, Matilda's teacher, helps her.
Carolina
Spiderwick
Chronicles by Tony
Diterlizzi and Holly Black
The Spiderwick
series is really exciting. It is about three kids who have
missions, but sometimes things go wrong or someone gets lost. On
the way, they come across different characters who help them. I
like this series because reading it, you sometimes feel like you
are actually one of the characters in the book.

The
Magic Treehouse: Tonight on the
Titanic by Mary
Pope Osborne
One
night Jack and Annie went to the Magic
Treehouse and it took them to the Titanic! In the book, it talks
about William and Lucy, two passengers travelling on the Titanic,
and Annie and Jack try to save them before it's too late. But can
they even save themselves? I like the book because it was full of
adventure and I couldn't leave it. I had to read to the
end.
Melina
A
Series of Unfortunate
Events by Lemony
Snicket
If
you have picked up this book and you don't
have the guts to read it, I suggest to put this book down and read
something that ends in a happy ending because this book contains
the misfortune of 3 children and barely some happy parts. The
eldest, Baudelaire Violet, is a great inventor and in order to
invent something she always ties her hair back to keep it out of
her eyes. The middle Baudelaire has read the most books out of all
of the children his age and the smallest Baudelaire has teeth as
sharp as a knife. The books may be 'unfortunate', but they are
breathtaking!
Alexios
The
Magic Treehouse: Hour of the
Olympics by Mary
Pope
Osborne

lots of surprises as you read.
Teresa
Amelia's
Journals by Marissa
Moss
The Amelia
Journals are fun
and peaceful to read
on a nice winter night in your bed with covers or on a shiny
summer day. They make you feel you are really reading a 9-10
year-old's journal. For example, in the book Luv Amelia, Luv
Nadia, the two of them write letters to each other and inside of
the book there are ACTUAL letters for the reader to open and read! Amelia's
Journals are
fantastic.
Eugenia
The
Magic Finger by
Roald Dahl
The

Encylopedia
Brown by Donald J.
Sobol
Encylopedia
Brown is a boy whose real name is
actually Leroy Brown. His friends call him Encyclopaedia because
in the summer he solves mysteries for a quarter and he's read more
books than anybody in Idaville. Sometimes, Mr. Brown
(Encylopedia's father and police chief) brings a case home and
asks Encylopedia to solve it and he always does. I like this books
because there are 10 cases and after each case you can guess who
did what before reading the ending.
Ras

them over. The main character is very intelligent and tries to
save the world by human innovation. Is he going to make it? Read
the series.

Freaky Friday
by Mary Rodgers
Have
you ever had a freaky Friday? If you
have, then it's probably nothing compared to the one 13-year-old
Annabel Andrews experiences. At first, she is happy that she wakes
up in her mother's body, but than she starts to realise all of the
disadvantages her mother has and then she starts to wonder whose
body her mother went into to. I chose this book because I saw the
movie and thought it was great, but I figured the book was
probably better. I was definitely right!

part, before I forget, is that he has the most hilarious chicken
ever!

would think a girl would like, so he pretends that a girl who is

The Curious Incident of the Dog
in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
A
dog was lying on the ground sideways, as if it were chasing a cat in a
dream.
This is no dream though; the dog is dead and has a pitchfork thrust
through his
body. 15-year old Christopher Boone is shocked by this and sets off to
figure
out who killed his neighbor’s dog. Chris has a form of Autism
called Asperger’s
Syndrome that makes it very difficult for him to interact normally with
people.
To solve this mystery he will have to be courageous and determined and
have to
trek out of his neighborhood into the wide-open world to find the truth
about
the dog. This adventure also teaches Christopher more about himself and
why his
mother isn’t with him any more. It is a very good book
– the author makes it
seem as if Chris is real. He also tries to make life funny from the
viewpoint
of an autistic person… Daniel

travel to different worlds to stop disaster. Saint Dane, as usual, is
the one

desert-like world.
Water is valuable there, and there are two tribes fighting for it: the
Batu and
the Rokador. Saint Dane is spreading rumors around, and he is trying to
start a
civil war. Bobby and his traveler friend Loor have to stop him before
Zadaa
falls apart. However, neither of the tribes trusts them, and they have
to do
all the work on their own. Bobby’s friends on Earth, Courtney
& Mark, are
also in trouble. Saint Dane is after them too, and when he pushes

Journey to the River
Sea by Eva Ibbotson
Maia,
an orphan girl, is, in just a couple weeks, moving
to the Amazon where some of her relatives live. She looked up
information on
the Amazon and found that some people find it a green hell but she also
read
that if you go there with courage and an open mind, you would find
yourself in
paradise. And a paradise is what she promises herself she will make it
once she
leaves the orphanage with her new governess. But the family she is
going to
live with is far beyond what she had expected, and whole new adventures
and
mysteries await her on the coast of the Amazon
River.
I enjoyed reading this book because there was humor, and it was a
cleverly
written, it took you back about a hundred years to Brazil
into the very heart of the
Amazon, and you could really imagine yourself standing in the middle of
the
rain forest. It is a book that’s hard to put down.

families, would do anything to know.
They have hired a man, Sandino, to discover the
secret. Sandino

keep moving and hiding with Leonardo da Vinci.
This is a great book to read if you are interested
in the

Horrible Histories: Angry Aztecs by Terry Deary
Did
you know that Aztecs smoked tabacco just to cure snake bite? Weird huh! Angry Aztecs
is filled with
thrillingly amusing facts just like this one and many others. This book
tells
you all about their history from the ancient numerals to the sacrifices
for the
gods. The author introduces you to the Aztec world through laughter and
amusement. I cannot recommend this book more, it is a book really worth
reading. Raphael

Inkheart
by Cornelia Funke
Ever
read a book that was impossible to put down, even
when there was your favorite show on TV? Well, that’s what
happens as soon as
you read the first page, and the feeling increases as you move on
through the
rest of the book. Packed with suspense, action, and brilliant
imagination, Inkheart
tells the story of a girl called Meggie who lives with her father, a
bookbinder, after her mother disappeared when she was too young to
remember.
Surprisingly enough, one night Meggie finds herself pulled into a
“new world”
full of further complications for her and her father. Full of
curiosity, Meggie
investigates and finds out that all the confusion was derived from a
book, Inkheart,
that somehow is connected to her mother’s disappearance. But
how? The story
becomes more and more personal and emotional for our young adventurer
Meggie.
Is she ever going to see her mother again? Kay
The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Princess

to learn. She barely sees her mother, but is instead cared for by her
aunt, who
teaches her the most amazing things. But nothing unordinary is
permitted in the

of becoming the
next queen, her mother has planned out a different future for her. She
is to be
sent away to marry a prince in another kingdom, quite a distance away. But on the journey there,
something dreadful
happens, and everything changes for Ani. Now only the magical knowledge
her
aunt gave her can save her. This book is a fairy tale, but unlike any
other
fairy tale I have ever read. It’s a lot better. It is well
written, descriptive,
and full of excitement, making you wish you were her in the story.

The Secret of Platform 13 by Eva Ibbotson
It
is a magical island, a place where mermaids, ogres and mistmakers live
happily
with humans, where our story takes place. It is under Platform 13 in
one of London’s
busiest train
stations, where an old doorway covered with posters lays forgotten and
unseen –
the entrance to the island that opens only every nine years for nine
days. One
day the Prince of this magical island is brought to our world through
this door,
and he is kidnapped by Mrs. Trottles. Nine years later, the Queen and
King of
the island send rescuers to find their long lost son. Once the strange
rescuers
find the Prince, they discover that he has become rude and spoiled and
also has
no intention of learning about the island and its magic. Together with
the help
of Ben, (the Prince’s servant), the rescuers will try to
persuade the Prince,
now called Raymond Trottles, to come back to the island. Will they make
it in
time before the old door closes? And does Raymond Trottles have the
qualities to
be a prince? Nilasha
Horrible Histories: The Savage
Stone Age by Terry Deary
The
Savage Stone Age is another Horrible
History masterpiece. Terry
Deary makes history interesting to learn. The Savage Stone Age
is full
of amazing facts about what happened during that age, such as people
carving on
stone walls, normally in caves, scenes in which they kill their prey.
There are
also questions to see if you understood everything. Terry Deary also
puts many
comic strips with jokes between the pages to help you understand things
better.
An example of a joke is: “What is the definition of an
archeologist? Someone
whose career is in ruins.” Even by looking at the cover you
can tell it is entertaining
and it will make you laugh and learn. I recommend this book to everyone
who
likes learning and having fun at the same time. Archimede

The Worry
Website
by Jacqueline Wilson
Everyone has problems and
worries,
especially the kids in Mr. Speed’s class. He tries Circle
Time, when students
share and express their bothers, but it turns out not to work that well
because
they were getting a bit embarrassed. Mr. Speed then tries out a new
way; he
invents the Worry Website: a website where everyone can go and type
their worry,
leaving it anonymous so that the person writing won’t get
embarrassed and the
other children can read it too and write out some comments or advice to
solve
it. It was cool
reading the different
types of worries children have, and lets the reader know that everyone
has
problems, even kids. Margherita
BEC (The Demonata
series) by Darren Shan
In this story a young girl named
Bec
has been raised by a tribe of warriors and fighters. The tribe has been
fighting dark demons and their leaders, the Demon Masters, who are
fearsome to
face in battle. The tribe has been fighting this terrible race with the
help of
Bec who now is a priestess with untrained magical powers. One day, the
priestess
and a small group of courageous warriors embark into the land of demons
to stop
the force that has been harming humanity for centuries. On the way they
meet
druid Drust and his young companion Bran to assist their dangerous
quest. Will
they accomplish their mission or become a meal for the fiends and let
humanity
fall? I really liked this book (and its series) because it is a book
that has
its own style, and it describes the difference between the human
universe and
the demon universe. I would really recommend this book to a person who
ONLY
likes to read intense books. (If you have already begun this book,
don’t you
ever say I didn’t warn you) Giorgio
Stargirl
by Jerry Spinelli
What
is "normal"? You dress the same as others. You eat the same food as
your family. You have similar hobbies and favorites as your
friends. It's just being the same as others; almost
identical.
But Stargirl isn't. From the top of her head to the
tip of
her toes, she's different, and at first the students at Mica Area High
School think she's cool. The something happens, and people
begin
to move away from her. Except Leo, a 10th grade boy, who gets
attracted to her and follows her around. As time goes on, he
finds himself attracted to Stargirl. If you want a sweet,
memorable book, here it is: a love story between Leo Borlock and
Stargirl. Christine
Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hallows by J.K Rowling
Harry
Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the 7th
and last book in the series. It’s about a 17-year old wizard
who leaves his
school (Hogwarts) to hunt down and destroy the evil Lord Voldemort.
Joining
with his friends Ron and Hermione, they will go through hardship to
destroy the
seven horcruxes, which will put an
end to Voldemort once and for all. I loved this book because it is full
of
horror, fantasy and comedy. All the books build up to this one. You
start to
find out about things that you probably have been wondering about in
previous
books. They are long books, but to fully understand this one you need
to read
the previous ones (in order). Michael

This
book will release your inner
vampire as you read it. The
main
character is a boy named Darren Shan.
It
all starts when Allan, one of Darren’s friends, finds a flyer
about this circus
called Cirque du Freak. Steve,

Darren
with him. After the
show Steve asks the
vampire who was part of the show, to bite him so he could be a vampire
too, and
Darren steals a gigantic, deadly spider from the vampire. Every time you pick up
this book you can’t
stop reading it, and after you read it, you will immediately want to
read the
rest of the series, the Saga of Darren
Shan. Rocco
Hostile Terrain by Jim Eldrige
Hostile
Terrain
takes place in south Georgia
in the USA. It talks about these SAS
(special forces)
soldiers who are dropped near an enemy headquarters.
They need to set free some other SAS agents
who were imprisoned by a hostile force.
The SAS soldiers almost die trying to find and
rescue the
prisoners. They
almost get killed by
professional snipers and almost explode because of mines…
but they risk their
lives because of friends. This
was an
exciting book, and I recommend it for anyone who likes war.

The Hitchhiker by R.L. Stine
Two
friends, Terri and Christina, are returning from Florida
when suddenly they see a hitchhiker.
They stop and after some indecision they pick him up. This
might be fatal for Terri and Christina. This
guy is called James, and Terri and Christina are flabbergasted by his
muscles
and handsome shape. This is a book for passionate readers of horrors.
It’s a
scary but at the same time interesting and catchy book.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
This book is
about
becoming a young woman in
the American South during a controversial and revolutionary period
of change in African-American Civil Rights. Lilly is a girl who is
becoming a woman without her mother and being raised by her black
nanny. She is an outcast in her community and lives with guilt of
her mother's death. She escapes from an abusive father with only a
photograph of her mother with an address on the back. Her world
changes and her perspective of her closed life changes as well.
This is an uplifting book. I could not put it down. I cannot even
possibly remember how many times I cried while reading it. I have
never reread a book until this one. It stole my heart and it will
steal your's too.

I enjoyed this
book a lot

description was excellent! The chapters varied from the points of
view, which included an autistic younger brother. I recommend this
book to any reader!

If
You
Come Softly by
Jacqueline Woodson
I enjoyed this
because it
was a very powerful
book--reflective and touching. It covers aspects such as prejudice
and police brutality in America..and love. I recommend this
because it is a really strong book that makes you reflect on how
we must judge beyond the colour of the skin.
Sara
Bad
Boys by
Tony Bradman
I liked this book
very
much, not only because
it talks about soccer, but because it talks about some boys of my
own age having different kinds of problems. Ben wants to be
accepted by some lady, while Lee would like to play wing instead
of full-back. I definitely recommend this, especially to boys my
age who like to play soccer.
Marco
Private
Peaceful by Michael
Morpurgo
This was an
excellent
book. Touching,
realistic, moving and just the best history book I ever read. This
is probably because he describes everything so well you start to
have a strong relationship with the characters. Another reason the
book is so strong is the fact that there is a lot of contrast
between the nice (overall) beginning and the terrible end. I would
recommend it to anyone since it is such a touching book. It would
touch even the coldest hearts.
Cecilia
Taste
Berries for Teens
by Kimberly Kirberger
I enjoyed it very
much
because there isn't
often a book that has collected so many particular and significant
stories about friendship. The thing that amused me the most were
the poems that were included in this book. I recommend this book
because it is very well written and then because....well, read and
you will see!
Lucrezia
The

I really enjoyed
this book
because it makes

violence that goes on there. It gets your attention from the first
page and becomes even more interesting.
Arianna
Chicken
Soup for a Teenage Soul
II by Jack Canfield
I enjoyed reading
this
wonderful book because
there are different kinds of stories. This book taught me a lot
and it may also help you to overcome a difficulty. With funny
stories about friendship and family, and serious stories about
heroic kids making difficult choices. This book is designed to
encourage you to believe in yourself. I recommend it to
everyone.

The
Window by
Carol Ellis
I enjoyed this
book
because it was very
mysterious. It is about a girl going skiing with people she
doesn't know anything about. She thinks she's only going to have
fun skiing but has an accident, which keeps her in the cabin most
of the holiday. Her troubles start when she 'window spies' and
sees a murder. The problem is the murderer has seen her! It is
full of suspense and very compelling.

Abomination
by Robert Swindells
This is a very
capturing
book. You can never
put it down and it has a very big surprise. This poor girl has to
get home early everyday because her parent never let her do
anything, like see her friends, use the phone, etc. because she
has to take care of 'abomination.'. It is full of
surprises.
Marco
Bend
it
Like Beckham by
Narinder Dhami
I liked this book
a lot
because it is about an
Indian girl like me. She loves playing soccer, but her mother
would rather that she try to "act like a girl" and do other things
instead, like learning to cook aloo-gobi, a vegetable Indian dish.
I strongly recommend this book to sporty girls. I am sure they
would love reading it!

Gregovich. When Sabina's house blows up he starts to put the
mystery together by putting together a burnt piece of paper
leading him to clues questioning whether it was really Yassen or
if it also included the famous Damian Cray and his new video game,
Gameslayer. Alex is pushed into a series of traps and in the end,
he is left with only 90 seconds to save the world from
destruction!

The
Vampire's Assistant
by Darren Shan
Darren Shan was
an
ordinary school boy until
his visit to Cirque Du Freak turns him into a vampire's assistant.
This sequel talks about his misadventures with Mr. Crepsley. I
think this book is slightly better than the first one. I would
suggest this book to people who have read the first book of the
series.

The
Magnetic Banana by
Steve Barlow
This book talks
about a
boy that goes to a new
school. He becomes friends with a very clever boy named Vernon
Bright and finds that is one one of those "mad scientist" types
who has a secret laboratory under his house. Vernon is working on
a way to make living things magnetic. In less than one day, by
mistake, Vernon becomes a living magnet! This is a funny adventure
with many surprises. I recommend it. It is a very good
book.

orphans, Dallas and
Florida, who are really hyperactive and always make a mess. Many
parents don't want them, until a strange couple adopts them. At
first sight, the two children are worried and astonished by the

fantastic!

How I Live Now is
a
spectacular memoir of
love, survival, and separation in desperate times. It goes as far
as any book could go. It is both touching and adventurous. Daisy

England. When she meets her cousin Edmond they fall in love. When
her aunt goes to London for a week and the cousins are left alone,
a war breaks out! She is forced to be brave and cope with

This book is
about a

also very well written.

The
Princess Diaries by
Meg Cabot
This book is
amazing and
this is the 50th time
I've read it! I've enjoyed it so much that I've decided to tell
you about it. The main character in this hilarious comedy is Mia,
a high school student that finds out she is a PRINCESS and that
she is the direct heiress to the Genovian throne. She will have to
move Genovia and live in a palace because in the end she will be
queen. This is everybody's dream except for Mia Camelia Mignonette

The
Garbage King by
Elizabeth Laird
The Garbage King
is an
excellent story about a
boy in Ethiopia who is really poor and a rich kid who runs away

interested me. It is pretty well written. I especially liked the
epilogue, but that you'll have to read yourself.

The
Wonderful Story of Henry
Sugar by Roald Dahl
This is a book of
short
stories. They are all
well-written, but I think that the best one is The Swan. It talks
about two big, dangerous boys who decide to bully on a little boy
named Peter. The two boys kill little birds with guns and Peter is
forced to pick them up. Only when they kill a swan does Peter take
action.

Angel by
Anthony Horowitz
I was so excited
when I
saw Ark Angel, because
in Scorpia (the 5th book in the Stormbreaker series) I thought
that Alex Rider, teenage spy and mini James Bond, had been killed.
I a a huge fan of the Stormbreaker series and I admire Anthony
Horowitz especially because he can make everything seem possible,
even for a 14 year old English schoolboy. Ark Angel is about Alex
Rider's mission to save Washington from destruction.

Anastasia
Series by Lois
Lowry
I have been
reading the
Anastasia series for
many years now and this year I have completed the series. I am
really sad that they are finished because they are really fun and
relate to everyday life. Lois Lowry's exceptionally good writing
capacities can't make you stop reading once you begin. Anastasia
is a really smart and fun girl who has different stories to tell
about her everyday life. The series starts when she is ten years
old and end at the age of thirteen. She goes through all sorts of
things; changing ideas, boys, having a new baby brother and school
problems. They are all very exciting and once you begin the
series, you get to a point where you want to see what happens
next, just to flip over to the next page and see what will happen!
You really would like to meet Anastasia....but it's just a book!
She is hilarious and smart so don't miss the series!

suspicion from others and the threat from the Dead, survival
reaches its breaking point. Everywhere they go they are surrounded
by the Dead., so the heroines decide to risk their lives, but what
is in return?
All
American Girl by
Meg
Cabot
I liked the book
because
the protagonist is an
artist and I like art. It talks about a girl that saves the life
of the President of America and then she falls in love with his
son. Then they fight and then....Well I can't tell you any more or
I will ruin the fun!

The
Trenches (My Story)
by Jim
Eldridge
This book is
about a
telecommunications and
machine operator who is a soldier in the days of World War One. It
gives a good idea of the pitiful conditions of the soldiers in
World War One. It is very exciting and has a nice and touching
part.
