Primary Computer Programme
Computer Curriculum Grade 2 (45 minutes per
week)
OBJECTIVES:
- Student should be able to identify the key
parts of the computer.
- Student should be able to turn on and off the
computer properly.
- Student will use appropriate terminology when
speaking about the computer and is able to identify numbers and
letters on the keyboard.
Word processing:
- Student will be able to Open, Save and Print a
document.
- Basic word processing skills- Letters,
Numbers, Return Key, Space Bar,, Mouse movement, Shift Key, Back
Space Key, Basic Punctuation.
- Word processing practice using AppleWorks
(e.g. writing stories, poems etc.)
Typing
- Learn proper body and hand position
- Typing practice using MacMavis Typing
Graphics:
- Student will utilize graphics programs like
Kid Pix, Print Shop.
Multimedia:
- Student will record sounds and integrate them
into an illustrated story.
Intercurricular support
- Improve mathematical skills using Math
Blaster.
- Use AppleWorks Drawing program to create
geometric figures.
- Use AppleWorks Drawing program to create
prehistoric animals in their habitats
ASSESSMENT:
- Students will be evaluated on their basic
computer skills, using a check listed format. Class participation,
effort, achievement in the projects, improvement
- SOFTWARE:
- The students in grade 2 will use the following
software programs:
- MacMavis Typing
- AppleWorks (6.0)
- Microsoft Word
- Storybook Weaver
- Kid Pix
- Math Blaster
- MathPack
Computer Curriculum
Grade 3
OBJECTIVES:
- Student should demonstrate an understanding of
the basic parts of the computer.
- Student should be able to turn on and off the
computer independently.
- Student will use basic technology vocabulary
when referring to computers.
Word processing:
- Student will be able to Open, Save, Delete and
Print a document using Menu options and shortcut Commands.
- Student will open and save a file from and to
a disk or folder
- Student will be able to: undo a mistake, copy
text, start a new page, change fonts, colors and sizes, insert a
frame or picture.basic word processing skills- Letters, Numbers,
Return Key, Space Bar, Cursor, Mouse movement, Shift Key, Back
Space Key, Basic Punctuation.
- Word processing practice using AppleWorks
(e.g. writing stories, poems etc.)
Typing
- Typing practice using MacMavis Typing
Program
Graphic:
- Student will utilize graphics programs like
Kid Pix, Print Shop to create a poster, invitation or card.
- Create graphics using Drawing and Painting
tools with AppleWorks(e.g. create a replica of an ancient
temple).
- Multimedia:
- Power Point presentation on a curriculum
related topic
- Web pages to publish work on class web
sites

Students will be evaluated on their basic computer
skills, using a check listed format and according to class
participation, effort, achievement in the projects,
improvement.

Computer Curriculum
Grade 4 (one hour per week)
OBJECTIVES:
- Student should demonstrate an understanding of
the basic parts of the computer.
- Student should be able to turn on and off the
computer independently and be able to access a local
network.
- Student will use basic technology vocabulary
when referring to computers.
- Student uses the computer to problem
solve.
- Student uses different software tools for
different tasks.
- Student recognizes the purpose of Word
processing, desktop publishing, multimedia, and spreadsheet
programs.
- Student will demonstrate the proper use of
keyboard and mouse.
Word processing:
- Student will be able to Open, Save, Delete and
Print a document using Menu options and Command.
- Student will open and save a file from and to
a disk or folder in the appropriate location.
- Student will be able to use a word processing
program like AppleWorks or Microsoft Word to undo a mistake, cut,
copy, paste text, start a new page, change fonts, colors and
sizes, insert a frame or picture, copy text from different
documents.
- Student will use a mouse to select (highlight)
words and sentences.
- Student will use a word processing program to
create simple projects with little assistance.
- Word processing practice using AppleWorks and
Microsoft Word (e.g. writing stories, poems etc.)
Typing
- Typing practice using Mac Mavis Typing Program
WPM (words per minutes) goal.
Graphic:
- Student will utilize graphics programs like
Kid Pix to create a poster, invitation or card.
- Create graphics using Drawing and Painting
tools with AppleWorks (e.g. create a replica of a medieval
building).
- Student will utilize a graphic program to
create enhancement for reports and presentations.
- Student will be able to add a border, change
layout, add Clip Art images to a document.
Multimedia:
- Student will learn and use terminology
pertaining to multimedia.
- Student will create a slide show using
Microsoft Power Point
- Use the Scanner to reproduce images or
pictures to transfer to multimedia presentations
- Student will learn how to download images from
internet to transfer to multimedia presentations
- Student will learn to create links.
Intercurricular support
- Use of Word processing skills to publish
Language and Social Studies work.
- Improve mathematical skills using Math
Blaster, Math Pack and Math web sites

Computer Curriculum Grade 5
OBJECTIVES:
- Student should demonstrate an understanding of
the basic parts of the computer and be able to access a local
network and share files and programs through the net.
- Student will use proper terminology when
referring to such items as software. (system, application, file),
hardware, primary memory (RAM), secondary memory (disk drive, hard
drive, CD ROM), humanware.
- Student uses appropriate software to gather,
chart, sort, graph and manage data (data representation with
spreadsheet).
- Uses the computer to problem solve.
- Uses different software tools for different
tasks.
- Recognizes the purpose of Word processing,
desktop publishing, multimedia, database and spreadsheet
programs.
- Student uses the keyboard and mouse with
increasing efficiency.
- Student will use the scanner to import
graphics and photographs into a computer program.

- Student will be able to Open, Save, Delete and
Print a document using Menu options and Command.
- Student will open and save a file from and to
a disk or folder in the appropriate location.
- Student will be able to use a word processing
program like AppleWorks or Microsoft Word to undo a mistake, cut,
copy, paste text, start a new page, change fonts, colors and
sizes, insert a frame or picture, copy text from different
documents, use Find and use Help.

Kid Pix, Print Shop, Bannermania to create a poster, invitation or
card either related to a classroom activity or a contents specific
subject area (e.g. posters for environmental awareness).
- Create graphics using Drawing and Painting
tools with AppleWorks (e.g. create a replica of a medieval
building).
- Student will utilize a graphic program to
create enhancement for reports and presentations.
- Student will add a border, change layout, add
Clip Art images to a document.
Multimedia:
- Student will learn and use terminology
pertaining to multimedia.
- Student will create a Power Point slide show
presentation.
- Student will use the Scanner to reproduce
images or pictures to transfer to multimedia presentations.
- Student will learn how to incorporate sounds
in multimedia presentations.
- Student will learn how to create links.
Intercurricular support
- Improve mathematical skills using Math
Blaster.
- Draw Renaissance architectural
structures.
- Use Claris Work Drawing program to draw the
body's circulatory system.
PROJECTS:
- Drawing Renaissance structures using drawing
and painting with AppleWorks.
- Develop math problem and Data representation
using spreadsheet programs (e.g. AppleWorks, Excel)
- Publish stories, poems and other written work
created in class, using appropriate computer skills.
- Create a slide show using Power Point
including sounds, links, images and scanned pictures.
- Create invitation, poster and card.
- Guided research on Native Americans
