Primary Computer Programme

Grade 1 | Grade 2 | Grade 3 | Grade 4 | Grade 5

 

Computer Curriculum Grade 1 (30 minutes per week)

OBJECTIVES:

  • Children should begin to learn that computer programs require different ways of organizing thinking. They will begin to apply different sets of skills and note that open programs permit a greater range of strategies and outcomes.
  • Children will be introduced to the key parts of the computer.
  • Children will begin to learn computer vocabulary and begin to use the language when explaining instructions to one another.

Skills

  • Students will learn to open and move to different programs and gain greater control of mouse movement, learn the use of some keys on the key board.
  • Students will be introduced to open, save and printing a picture, They will learn to close programs and turn off the computer properly.

Graphics

  • Children will utilize and explore the graphics program Kid Pix.

Intercurricular Support

  • Collaboration with class teachers on Units of Inquiry.

 

Assessment:

  • Children will be evaluated on their basic computer skills, using a check listed format as well as their effort, achievement and improvement.
